SAD- Beating the Winter Blue's #LIFE
For me, depression is the darkness that threatens to steal the best parts of life-past, present and future...
There are some people who are affected by the dark days of winter and fine other seasons of the year. I have battled with depression off and on for many years but am considered a high functioning individual, until I run out of steam. I could be in an upswing for days, weeks, months, or even years. The darkness kept in the background by routine and schedules, and denial. Eventually, I am plunged back into the darkness that comes as a constant interruption in my daily life. So my ever lengthening absences from the blog and social media are a clue to what's happening with my mental health. After much counselling and mental exercise, I have been given some encouraging tips to help get out of my cycle of negativity and darkness. First is to stop the broken record of negativity and replace it with positive thoughts and actions.
I am struggling to do this post and have been for the last two weeks, so will leave it as it is and post some of my "happy place" memories or things that help remind me that the darkness may still linger but doesn't have to steal me away from my loved ones if I don't let it.
Do you know anyone who suffers from depression?
