Build-A-Bear Celebrates 100 Million Friends And Counting #FriendsCount.

I recently found out that Build A Bear is celebrating it's 15th Birthday and the making of 100 Million friendships! I have to admit I've never been to a Build A Bear workshop yet.  I plan on taking my girl there to celebrate the tossing of the "nummy" aka her soothers.  My hope is that she will build a true friend to celebrate her milestone.

"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." Anais Nin

Whether it is your pet, an old/new school mate, or a furry friend (stuffy as Princess Destructo calls them) friendship fulfills a deep need we all have for companionship.  I have a few friends that have stuck with me since grade school.  Even though we live in separate provinces we make a point of connecting through phone calls, emails, and occasional visits.  Some of my best friends have also been my pets.  My first dog, was actually a family pet named Spot.  She was a wild one!  She liked to steal shoes and clothing, then dash away with it.  I remember chasing her in the yard, doing laps and she would tire me out first. My dad was actually considering giving her away when a puppy, because she was so wild.  Sometimes friends become our champions when we need them most.  Spot saved our sleeping family from a fire in the late-seventies.  She was a very gentle soul but that night began to bite my dad's leg and bark loudly, alerting my dad to trouble.  We all escaped unharmed and even made the local paper.  Needless to say, we kept her to the end. She lived to be nearly 17 years old and I cherish my memories of her even now- 20 years later. That's the test of true friendship, time does not dull your love or sense of comradery.
